FFI Maintains Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Accreditation for 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Indianapolis, IN
Friends of Ferdinand is pleased to announce that we have met the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance conditions for continued accreditation in 2016. Nationwide, a total of 56 equine organizations are currently accredited and in good standing with the TAA.
Friends of Ferdinand is the only equine welfare organization in Indiana to attain this honor and recognition.
Funded initially by seed money from the Breeders Cup Ltd., The Jockey Club and Keeneland Association Inc., the TAA is supported by owners, trainers, breeders, racetracks, aftercare professionals and other industry groups. Funds raised provide support to accredited aftercare organizations to retire, retrain, and rehome racehorses.
This represents months of work by Friends of Ferdinand and the TAA, beginning with a detailed application submitted in 2014, subsequent reviews followed by careful onsite inspections by TAA inspectors. In 2015, TAA determined that FFI met or exceeded TAA requirements in the areas of operations, education, horse care management, facility standards and services, and adoption policies and protocols. Maintaining TAA accreditation is a process that requires scheduled and random inspections to ensure that the Code of Standards is consistently upheld throughout the 2-year term of the accreditation.
