Indiana Horse Council Foundation Supports Thoroughbred Aftercare Through the Racing Legacy Fund.
Friends of Ferdinand Inc. (FFI) is pleased to announce that it will receive a grant from the Indiana Horse Council Foundation (IHCF). The grant is from IHCF's Racing Legacy Fund, which allots resources to be used for retraining and retirement opportunities for Indiana racehorses. This grant will be used by Friends of Ferdinand for the daily care of the Thoroughbreds in their program, including veterinary expenses, farrier expenses and retraining costs. We are very pleased to have the support of the Indiana Horse Council Foundation. This is the time of year when Indiana Grand is winding down for the season and many Thoroughbreds are looking for their 2nd careers.
The Indiana Horse Council Foundation (IHCF) is an Indiana-based non-profit that supports charitable, scientific, and educational projects for horses and horse-related activities in Indiana. Aside from grants, the IHCF also offers scholarships, hosts workshops for horse owners, promotes equine welfare education, and aids in horse rescue and neglect issues. Founded in 1992, the IHCF opposes any act that causes intentional harm to an equine and which is contrary to the horse's welfare.http://indianahorsecouncilfoundation.org
Friends of Ferdinand Inc. (FFI) is an Indiana-based non-profit which strives to provide ex-racehorses with the retraining they need to find steady homes beyond the racetrack. Horses that have gone through the FFI retraining program have found second careers as eventers, hunter/jumpers, dressage mounts, trail horses, and more. FFI, with the motto “retired from racing, not from life”, is the only Indiana equine non-profit that is accredited by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.
