He has taught me to believe in myself. That obstacles are not nearly as difficult as they first appear...
I adopted Storm Current (now with the barn name of Sammy) in January of 2015. I was very impressed with the entire process at Friends of Ferdinand - from the first call from Lori Miller to the wonderful follow-up from the entire team. It truly is a family. Sammy has been wonderful and I am continually amazed with him. He has helped to build my confidence and riding skills and I can only hope that I am a positive influence on him as well. I love my FFI horse!
I would say that I have found thoroughbreds to be incredibly sensitive. He knows what I'm feeling before I even know it. I struggle with anxiety and depression and I am immensely better when I am around him (and my other OTTB). He has taught me to believe in myself. That obstacles are not nearly as difficult as they first appear and that working together, we can get over (or jump!) anything.
Summer 2018 update on Jenn and Sammy:
I adopted Storm Current (barn name now Sammy) in January 2015. We have had a lot of fun in the past few years from trail riding to USEA horse trials to dressage schooling shows. Sammy has made huge progress in his dressage work and has renewed my love for that discipline. We also continue to dabble to eventing and this spring participated in the Area VIII Adult Rider clinic with Diana Rich with the hope to do more mini-trials this summer. Sammy LOVES my other horse, Toby and the two have the most fun eating grass in their pasture. I love him and I'm so glad I adopted him!
